Can't recycle at home in Miami Dade County? Fix it.

Istock_000000629266xsmallOne of the things that we most often get emailed about here at greenerMIAMI is "how in the heck can I recycle?" And the answer isn't always an easy one. However, through the help of the research done by Luiz Rodrigues and ECOMB, we realized that there is a better answer.

Most of us live in apartments or condominiums in which recycling is not offered. Here's the interesting part: it's the law - they have to offer it. It's been the law in Miami Dade for 15 years, in fact. And so, we've put together a page to get you the information you need to know in order to help that law go into effect at your residence.

If you are going to go through the process of trying to get your condo or apartment complex to recycle, please comment on this post and keep us posted throughout the whole process. Hopefully your tips and hard work will make it continually easier for the rest.

To see the details of the recycling ordinance and suggestions on how to make it work for you, please check out:

How to Get Your Condominium or Apartment Complex to Recycle.

Good luck and may the force be with you!

EarthDance This Saturday....Go!

Earthdance2Tomorrow, September 15, 2007, at 7PM EST, nearly half a million world citizens in over 60 countries and 350 locations worldwide will join together for the world's largest synchronized music and dance festival for peace and to support humanitarian causes through the global language of music and dance. The defining moment of each Earthdance event is a synchronized link-up, when every event around the world plays a specially produced song called "The Prayer for Peace" at exactly the same time.

It will be an all day, incredible event with tons of music, performance art, yoga, and more. Doors open at 2pm. Tix are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and here's the real bargain: get there before 4pm and get in 2 for 1.

E85 Pump To Open Thurs. Sept. 13 - Fill 'Er Up Cheap From 7-9am

U_flexfuel_lrgEthanol is coming to town tomorrow, and to celebrate the launch of the new pump at U-Gas on NW 79th Ave, E85 will be on sale for $0.85/gallon from 7 am - 9 am on Thursday, September 13, 2007. (E85 normally sells at around $2.55/gallon.)

Since most cars that can use ethanol are GM FlexFuel vehicles, the first 75 customers in a GM FlexFuel will receive a $20 U-Gas card. Plus, they are offering a free yellow cap for your gas tank to remind you that it is flex-fuel capable.

This is the first E85 pump to be installed in South Florida. I feel like we are finally starting to catch up around here! General Motors tells us that there are 11,317 FlexFuel vehicles owned in South Florida...so let us know how it goes!
