About GM changes, updates...Seeking contributors

I thought that I would take a moment to walk through some of the changes & updates that have happened recently on GreenerMiami.

First of all, it's obvious that we're adding advertising to the site. The two spots that the boxes are located are the expected locations of the ads. Instead of using Google Ads or another online ad source, we are trying to sell ads locally to businesses that are in line with GreenerMiami. The ads will hopefully cover our costs and also provide us with funds to grow and dedicate more time and resources to the project.

We've made a commitment that 10% of our profits will go to charity. Once we get to that stage, the readers will be involved in the process of deciding where the funds should go. Additionally, we'll set another 10% of the profits aside to go towards GreenerMiami projects, contests, and product testing.

Additionally, as you may have seen a few days ago, we are offering free space, similar to ads, to non-profit and community groups. This space can be used to promote an event or campaign, and again, will be available free of charge.

Finally, we'd love to have more contributors to GreenerMiami. It can be a one time deal, or an ongoing thing. Maybe you have your own blog, but would like to write about something "green" and would like to publish it here instead (or on both)! Maybe you'd just like to write one piece and see it live on the Web. Think about it!

One final, fun, note: We've also added a flickr flash item on the bottom left-hand corner of the site (also seen here). New photos should be added frequently.
