Valerie C. Wisecracker to Perform at EarthFest

We're excited to have Valerie C. Wisecracker perform for all of us at EarthFest: WaterFest Gone Green. See her on Sunday, along with many other performers!

ValerieComic. Acoustic and Eclectic Performer. Irreverent but relevant. Well grounded but high strung. An earthy alto. The original “Miami Mother Folker.” Singer/songwriter and guitar/banjo slinger. 2-Time Florida Old Time State Singing Champion. Founding member of Miami's longest running Public Radio comedy show, PANDEMONIUM. Somewhere in between Annie Oakley and Ethel Merman.

A regular at Florida Folk festivals, concert clubs and the occasional funky watering hole, Val brings a rich background of professional experience to her music and messages.

She has shared the stage with JOHN HARTFORD, JOHN McCUTCHEON, CHRISTINE LAVIN, MICHAEL JOHNSON, ERIC ANDERSON, MICHAEL SMITH, STILL ON THE HILL and many others.

Valerie fronted Miami's original folk spoof band Jabberwocky for over 20 years. She has recorded her song “Rusty Banjo” with legendary fiddler VASSAR CLEMENTS. Her radio, TV and stage credits include musical performances with Pulitzer prize winner Dave Barry as well as solo banjo on one of PBS's highest-ever rated shows with Dick Clark.

A South Florida fixture and long time Keys resident, Val offers a humorous perspective on life in the Sunshine state -- songs about its government, guests and environment. Ditties like “The Dirty Little Rat That Ate Orlando.” Tunes that come from her own unique perspective.

Valerie Latest CD, "My Florida" was produced and financed by Florida Everglades photographer Clyde Butcher. One of his photos graces the cover.

FreeSwap @ EarthFest! Bring it. Take it. Free.

During EarthFest we'll be running a FreeSwap. This means that you can bring stuff that you no longer want, and take stuff that you need - all for free. It's a similar concept to Freecycle's FreeMeet TM, seen on this video.

It's a feature that we're pretty excited about! Please remember to bring items that are in good condition but that you no longer need or want such as clothing, toys, music, household items, and more. If an item is too big & heavy to carry, it's too much for FreeSwap!

All items must be offered 100% free.

Then, browse around the items and take whatever you'd like. It's the ultimate recycling.

**Please note that you will be able to drop off your items for the FreeSwap prior to parking, if you do not wish to carry them across the parking lot.**

Inner Voice to Perform Live at EarthFest

To add to the already incredible list of performers, we'll be listening to the sounds of Inner Voice at EarthFest!

InnervoiceInner Voice is a unique musical experience of 5 guys based out of Miami, Florida. Their music is an uplifting combination of vocal harmonies, ethnic percussion, magical guitars, Rumi-esque poems, laughter, self-realization and a sprinkling of the entire spectrum of human emotions. During an Inner Voice concert, you may experience music ranging from resonant acapella to infectious pop, rhythmic Latin to heart wrenching folk ballad, all the way over to raucous hillbilly bluegrass and back again through modern R&B and simply delicious songs of love and profound awareness.

Every song that comes through is inspired by our love for every living being, our compassion for every experience, and our commitment to being a clear voice of the universal heart. Inner Voice has been blessed to perform at numerous venues throughout South Florida, including local and international television and radio, and often where the theme is of peace, compassion, love, and of course, simple awareness of the present. Founded by R&B singer Alex Perez and Ashley Ruiz, formerly of the Latin musical group, Menudo, they were soon joined by Colombian musical artist Jaime Triana. Brothers Kazuhiro and Edwin Itoh eventually found their way to Inner Voice, bringing additional guitar and percussive depth to the medium for Inner Voice's message. An inspiration born in 1999, as 5 young musicians were undoubtedly guided towards the same moment, the same space, Inner Voice's message inevitably leads directly to the one truly timeless message ... Presence. Here. Now. This Perfect Moment. Infinite Presence.

Deblois Performing on Earth Day in Key Biscayne

Deblois will take the stage on April 22 at EarthFest - listen to a preview now!

Deblois Deblois has a mystique that is both down home and sophisticated, with magical vocals and catchy melodies that effortlessly cross genre boundaries. Her music is forged on the anvil of Folk but the sword that emerges is engraved with the Blues, and her creativity cannot be masked behind any of these as she creates a sound all her own. Her delivery is soulful and direct but at the same time seductively subtle.

Deblois has performed extensively in the United States and in Central America. In Nosara, Costa Rica, where she lived and learned for several years, she balanced music with her desire to live near the ocean and this watery theme is reflected in many of her songs. Upon her return to the U.S. Deblois made a record of 9 original songs called Leviathan, and has been touring to support this album since April of 2006.

Born in Miami, Fl, Deblois has played with a variety of talented musicians and is involved in her community through music, performing at jazz clubs, bars, theaters, cantinas, restaurants, coffee shops, honkey tonks and playhouses. She was involved in a benefit production for girls aging out of the foster-care system at the Gusman Theatre for Performing Arts in Downtown Miami where her original song, "Halfway" was featured as the grand finale and soundtrack to a corresponding short film. Her music has also been chosen to be featured in an educational film on the Florida Keys, to be shown at marine sanctuaries and educational facilities throughout South Florida. She has shared the stage with some outstanding artists, and continues to grow as a singer, songwriter and a performer. Listening to Deblois sing is like going home, her lyrics and the timbre of her voice carry you there.
